It was wonderful to see so many of our community members come along to Forest Hill Secondary College Theatre to support our students on Wednesday night, 19 October 2022. The students were clearly very excited and proud of their performance. As I stated on the night, Performing Arts is an important part of the school curriculum, as it helps to build student confidence and self-esteem. It also encourages students to develop their imagination and creativity. It also requires teamwork and cooperation, which are important life skills.
Students certainly demonstrated all of this and more and they are to be congratulated for their magnificent performance. Our staff have also played a big part in the success of ‘Adventures in Neverland’. They have been instrumental in preparing the students and have somehow managed to fit rehearsals into an already crowded curriculum. Without our teachers, learning support staff and administration staff, the concert would never have happened.
A big thanks to Cathy Ellis from K & C Dance and Drama. Cathy was the concert director and the creative mastermind behind most of the choreography and script. Cathy has been working with students from St. Christopher’s for many, many years and she has a wonderful rapport with students and staff. This was again demonstrated when rehearsing for Adventure’s in Neverland. On behalf of everyone, congratulations and thank you Cathy.
